YES! We Did That! Celebrating the Talented Youth of Alex through our Partnership With Yes4Youth, SCC, and EYWA.

Friday, the 11th of October, marked a momentous occasion: The graduation of our 1st cohort of young people under our partnership with Youth Employment Services (YES), the Spanish Chamber of Commerce (SCC) RSA and Employability for Youth and Women (EYWA), which is co-financed by the European Union.

Hosted at the Yes Alex Netcare Ulusha Hub, the graduation ceremony kicked off with a warm welcome from Bongani Ncube, who is the Hub Programme Specialist at YES, and speeches from some of the graduates- one of which was Mikael Mokhethi, who spoke about his journey and experience throughout the programme. "From the expertise of highly skilled trainers to the comprehensive educational content, the programme ensured that I not only gained the necessary skill set but also developed a deep understanding of this critical technology, which is essential for securing South Africa's energy sovereignty," said Mikael Mokhethi in a heartfelt speech that showcased his gratitude and appreciation for the programme. From there, our graduates graced the floor as they received their certificates and took photos with the partners who made this programme possible.

The programme, which aims to equip 60 youth from Alex and Soweto with the green skills they need to power up their journey in the renewable energy sector by providing them with Solar PV Training, saw 30 young people from Alex take part in a tailormade, three-month Solar PV Training programme from the 5th of August until the 27th of September, 2024. Upon completion, it was all glitz and glam as the red carpet rolled out and our talented, joyful youth graced the floor with their presence.

The programme closed off with a vote of thanks from the Spanish Chamber of Commerce's Joaquin Valverde, who highlighted the importance of empowering the youth with skills that meet the growing demands of the renewable energy sector.

At Nepoworx, we are immensely proud of our first cohort of graduates and excited to see them thrive as they embark on their new careers as PV Installers. Thank you to our partners, the team, and, most importantly, the youth who have worked hard to make this programme successful!
