Young Entrepreneurs recently celebrated a significant milestone, having successfully completed their Enterprise Development and Solar PV training. This programme, commissioned by Harambee in partnership with Nepoworx, was designed to equip these entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the rapidly expanding green energy sector.
The training covered a wide range of topics, from the technical aspects of solar PV systems to essential business skills such as sales, marketing, and PR. What made this programme particularly special was the fact that the majority of the participants were women, a powerful indication of the increasing role women are playing in STEM fields. Their participation not only challenges traditional gender norms but also enriches the industry with diverse perspectives and innovative ideas.
As part of the programme, we hosted two pitch days where the SMMEs had the opportunity to present their updated business plans to a panel of experts from FNB and Harambee. The quality of the presentations was outstanding, reflecting the hard work and growth of these entrepreneurs throughout the course. It was clear that they had not only absorbed the technical knowledge but also honed their business acumen, positioning themselves for success in a competitive market.
Nonjabulo Sokhela, CEO of Nepoworx, shared her thoughts on the programme's impact: "This training has not only empowered these entrepreneurs with the skills they need but also fostered a sense of confidence and purpose. Seeing the passion and innovation in their presentations was truly inspiring."
The programme concluded with a graduation ceremony that was both joyous and inspiring. Representatives from Harambee, FNB, and the Nepoworx team attended to celebrate the achievements of the graduates. It was a moment of pride for everyone involved, as we recognised the hard work, dedication, and potential of these 20 SMMEs.
We are excited to see the impact these entrepreneurs will have on their communities and the broader renewable energy sector, and we remain committed to supporting their continued growth and success.
