Candidate Applications Open For The Solar Photovoltaic Service Technician Programme.



Nepoworx Renewable Energy Institution (Nepoworx) in collaboration with MerSETA hereby invites unemployed youth that meet the admission requirements and eligibility criteria to be trained as Solar Photovoltaic Service Technicians (NQF Level 5). This programme will commence in October 2022 and end in February 2023.

Purpose of the Programme:

The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as a Solar Photovoltaic Service Technician. A Solar Photovoltaic Service (PV) Technician designs, installs and performs maintenance on PV systems, isolates the PV system; performs fault finding (troubleshooting), and finds solutions to a range of problems. A Solar Photovoltaic Service Technician may be employed either at a photovoltaic farm or at stand-alone PV installations.

A qualified learner will be able to:

  • Plan for the installation of a photovoltaic system;

  • Install a photovoltaic system;

  • Maintain, diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical components of PV systems.

Admission Requirements:

Qualification in any of the following trades, subject to Recognised Prior Learning (RPL):

  • NQF level 4 qualification Electrician,

  • NQF level 4 qualification Electro-Mechanics, or

  • National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrument Engineers.

Eligibility criteria:

  • South African Citizen or Permanent Resident;

  • No criminal record;

  • Physically fit, with a satisfactory medical record;

  • Between the age of 18 and 30 years.

Please note that the Programme will be biased towards historically disadvantaged individuals and female candidates.


Application Process: Applications for the Programme must be submitted via our website (www.nepoworx.com) on or before 26 August 2022. Only applications received via our website will be acknowledged. Shortlisted candidates will be notified via email before the end of September 2022. If you don’t receive notification on or before that date, please consider your application as unsuccessful.
